Description

gpg refuses to accept freemail email addresses, specifically, it chokes on a "~" in an email address.
"~" is valid within the host portion of a freemail address.

How To Repeat

attempt to use any email address with a ~ in the host portion

Fix

Allow "~" as a valid character in an email address.

Use the --allow-freeform-uid option when generating the user
ID. That allows you to use any characters you like.
