Bad FTP Links
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Some links referencing content on the FTP site are incorrect, due to a directory
structure change on the FTP server (no /pub/ directory).

All links pointing to the IDEA unofficial module, such as these two URLs:

http://gnupg.org/documentation/faqs.en.html#q3.3
http://www.gnupg.org/faq/why-not-idea.html

reference the location as:

ftp://ftp.gnupg.dk/pub/contrib-dk

The valid location is:

ftp://ftp.gnupg.dk/contrib-dk

(/ rather than /pub)

Would it be possible to update all links & references to the /pub dir of the FTP
site, or create a symlink of /pub to / on the FTP site?

Thx!

Obviously you found that software thus I don't see a problem. ftp.gnupg.dk is
not related to gnupg.org in any way.

Then why is it referenced in multiple locations in the GnuPG website?!

I found the software by manually traversing the entire FTP site (you know, the
one referenced in the documentation on the GnuPG website -- as the examples I
provided showed) after spending far more time than I should have looking for an
updated, valid URL on the GnuPG website. I now see why it took me so long.

If whoever runs the GnuPG website thinks that referencing non-existent URLs in
multiple locations of documentation & FAQs is not a bug needing to be addressed,
then I am sorry I wasted my time attempting to provide information on bad links
returning 404s.

Congratulations -- you're well on your way to allowing the website to be a
complete waste of electrons, helpful to no one.

Do us all a favor and remove the instructions on the website on how to helpfully
submit website bugs so no one else wastes more of their time.

Okay, okay, I remove the "pub/".
