Description

Gpg as called from a mailer to verify email runs off with ~50% of my system RAM for several minutes. The process keeps growing in size, above 300Mb allocated data, and as close to 100% cpu as it can get.

This happens no matter if its called from sylpheed or evolution to check email address'

from evolution it is called as :
gpg--verbose--no-secmem-warning--no-greeting--no-tty--batch--yes--status-fd=51--verify/tmp/evolution-pgp.7kzZoq-spider

This is becoming exceedingly frustrating and annoying, and I do not know how to deal with it, however waiting for more than 17 minutes for each email is simply insane.
