Key with photo not listed correctly when searched on keyserver
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Release: 1.4.1 / 1.4.2rc1

Environment

Linux
Debian 3.1 (Sarge)

Description

When trying to import a key with a photo from a keyserver the key is shown without ID. Sometimes the list normally containing key length, algorithm, ID and creation date reads like \xd4\xfe\x01\x10\v\r\v\x09\x0f\r\f\f\x11.

How To Repeat

  • open dialog to import key from keyserver
  • use hkp://sks.keyserver.penguin.de
  • search for 0x04541CB5
    • or
  • open dialog to import key from keyserver
  • use hkp://pgpkeys.pca.dfn.de
  • search for 0x781D924E

Fix

gnupg 1.2.5 works fine

Event Timeline

What do you mean by "open dialog" Please give the exact
command line used.

This is a bug, but not a GPG bug. The keyserver is
returning garbage in its key listing. GPG doesn't do
anything to the garbage aside from quoting it so it doesn't
blow up the terminal. This is a known SKS keyserver bug
that has been fixed already.

The "open dialog" belongs to kgpg.
The following comand line shows the error too:
gpg --keyserver pgpkeys.pca.dfn.de --search-keys 0x781D924E
