"read error: ec=8", missing .dll's and gnupg folder after mkportable.exe
Testing, NormalPublic

Description

To whom it may concern,

I executed the "mkportable.exe" script with the "--full" flag. Every option in the Gpg4win installer is enabled and installed as stated in the documentation - after completion and starting "D:\Gpg4winPortable\bin\gpg.exe" I'm presented with the following (debug enabled):

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate SP 1 32 Bit Build 7601 and Gpg4win-4.0.0 on an older machine - please no advice to upgrade to Windows 10; I'm aware of the official end of support :-(

Gpg4win works fine after normal installation, my guess is that an unnormal process with "mkportable.exe" happend?

Likewise I can't import secret keys in "Kleopatra.exe" if I haven't created "D:\Gpg4winPOrtable\gnupg" and started "D:\Gpg4winPortable\bin\gpg-agent.exe" manually.

"D:\Gpg4winPortable\bin\gpa.exe" complains about missing "libint-8.dll" and "libpcre-1.dll", which must be manually copied to "D:\Gpg4winPortable\bin".

I'd be happy about a solution because I want to continue to use Gpg4Win, especially as a portable version - I donated, too...

Best wishes from Bremen, Germany :-)

Hi,
(Exec format error), read 0 bytes

I think this might be related to the missing dll if it tries loading something incompatibile this sounds like it could lead to an exec error.

rW36f727ff13cc28d4cb08095e0f5021bea88732ca

fixes the libintl part. But we should have tested mkportable before the last release I change the status here to testing to test before the next release.

Thanks and apologies for your troubles.
