There exists a public LDAP server I'm trying to use that only publishes certificates in the userSMIMECertificate attribute. This is currently not supported, but the groundwork is there. I know other things have happened relating to LDAP and GnuPG since 2011, so perhaps it's time to revisit this. Thank you.
