Vanilla GnuPG builds are limited to 4k key size (RSA) with a default set as 3k.
While Linux builds are fairly easy to rebuild, Windows builds tend to be a much harder egg to crack for most users.
GnuPG can be rebuilt with higher key size and it works well. Actually, other then when creating a key, the keysize limit doesn't seem to affect anything else. I've been using 8k keys with GnuPG builds (linux and windows) that on their own won't generate beyond 4k.
I'm not going into any debates about usefulness or added relative security of various sizes of a key.
The purpose of this request is the enhanced capability to create new keys.
Thank you
