Description

The tab order differs on mac. This is probably a problem on multiple dialogs, e.g.

  • on the "Certificate List":
macwin
win

I can retest the other dialogs, when this is fixed, as a fix might work for other dialogs, too.

This is partially a configuration issue: System Settings->Keyboard->Keyboard Navigation. Enable to allow tabbing through buttons.

*However*, when tabbing through buttons, the buttons are not highlighted in any way. I'm seeing the same in at least some Safari settings dialogs, though, so maybe it's a general issue on Mac.

Thanks, I see. I think, native buttons do get the focus border, e.g. in settings:

Also the native buttons in Kleopatra, but not the qt ones:

1
2
3
4-6 (no feedback)
7
8-13 (no feedback)

Visual keyboard navigation does not make much sense without feedback, but at least screen readers should be able to handle this then.

For the main certificate list, it works (with visual feedback) after setting both:

  • System Settings->Keyboard->Keyboard Navigation
  • System Settings->Accessibility Keyboard->Full Keyboard Control

The behavior on "Certificate Details" is unexpected and needs further investigation.

Regarding "Certificate Details" it seems that on Mac setting TabFocus for QLabel's seems to be ignored. https://doc.qt.io/qt-6/qt.html#FocusPolicy-enum hints that Mac seems to be special wrt to focus.

The two kinds of buttons are not native vs. Qt, but push buttons vs. tool buttons. The latter are mostly meant to be used for tool bars, but Kleopatra also uses them in a few other places, e.g. for the New Tab/Close Tab buttons.
