Bug report - GPG a folder to *.tar.gpg loss all files!
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Bug report - GPG a folder to *.tar.gpg loss all files! (If there is one file

inside with chinese character, named "@abc 程式筆記.lnk")

This folder is used to test that when I use gpg4win-2.2.1.exe to gpg (encrypt
only) a folder like this to "Xxx.tar.gpg", I got back not even one file after
extraction of it!

The key problem should be that there is a file with Chinese character "@abc 程式
筆記.lnk".
If I rename that file as "@abc.lnk", all the files could be got back from the
"Xxx.tar.gpg" extraction.

This should be a major bug.

Thank you very much for your attention.

Event Timeline

Thanks for reporting this.

This is already part of T1624 although T1624 is confusingly named as it
relates to this problem triggered by gpgex.

We will try to fix it or at least report an error in that case for the next
gpg4win release.

aheinecke changed Version from gpg4win-2.2.1 to gpg4win-2.2.2.

This should be fixed in 2.2.3 (Which will be released soon)

Gpgtar now handles all filenames using the windows 8bit charset. It still does
not support full unicode filenames. For this the fix would have been larger but
at least kleopatra now reacts to gpgtar errors so when you include a File that
can not be handled it will show an error and mention the file that was problematic.

Jonny, can you confirm that the problem is gone with 2.2.3?

I have verified that the bug have been solved in version 2.2.3. Thank you very much.

Patch still needs to be applied upstream but this is tracked in another issue.
