Cannot encrypt files because Kleopatra can no longer startup recently. It was working normally before.
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Kleopatra's UI never show up anymore, without a crash message. This issues
started around several weeks already (maybe at least since Sep 8, 2015). Thus,
choosing a file and encrypt by right-clicking it shows "Cannot connect to the
GnuPG user interface (Kleopatra): IPC connect call failed" after hanging for a
few seconds.

Info:

  • Tested suddenly became not work on 2 or more PCs.
  • I haven't updated gpg4win and it suddenly not work some weeks before.

(Possibly because of Window's update caused incompatibility?)

Please help.

This can happen if you block connections to localhost or if you have changed the
IP Address localhost resolves to. (The reason for this is Interprocess
communication)

You can try to look at the debug output with debugview:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb896647.aspx

This might help track down the problem.

With Gpg4win 3.0 Kleopatra's startup procedure is much more robust. You can try https://wiki.gnupg.org/Gpg4win/Testversions and please report if the issue still persists.
