GpgOL Add-In not working in Outlook 2016
Open, NormalPublic

Description

Hi guys,

I`m running GnuPG Version 3.0.3 (released 2018-01-12) on the latest build of Windows 10 [Version 10.0.16299.98] with Outlook 2016. The Add-in is there but clicking on Sign/Encrypt does nothing, It works find on the same build of Windows 10 running Outlook 2010 SP2.

Any ideas?

Steve

What do you mean by "Does nothing"? The button should toggle and then when you send the mail kleopatra should show a dialog to select the signing / encryption keys.

If you click send after toggling sign/encrypt what happens?

The button shows and I can select Sign or Encrypt but they don't register / stay selected they just have a grey highlighted background whilst hovering over them... they do not toggle / stay selected.

Here is what it looks like on a working Outlook 2010 - http://tinypic.com/r/nd3k8k/9
And here is what happens when I try Outlook 2016 - http://tinypic.com/r/11qls8z/9

That is weird, I've never heard of that before.

Can you please enable debug output for GpgOL by setting the registry value:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GNU\GpgOL enableDebug 1922
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GNU\GpgOL logFile c:\temp\gpgol.txt

(You can enter any writeable path for the logFile value)

Then please start Outlook and click once on "Secure". Send the mail to yourself. Then shut down outlook -> Attach the log here.

Any errors setting the "toggle" state should be logged there and might give us more information.

Thanks

Thanks, file attached

Thanks. Error is there:

08:54:02/4668/ERROR/mapihelp.cpp:mapi_set_gpgol_draft_info: can't set GpgOL Draft Info property: hr=0x80070490
08:54:02/4668/ERROR/ribbon-callbacks.cpp:mark_mime_action: Failed to set draft flags.

Very strange, we use this code for ages to mark the crypto actions on a mail. Googling the error code does not turn up anything. (Internally this means that HrSetOneProp returns 0x80070490).
As this it not an official MAPI error code this could be because you have somehow a custom MAPI Provider for this account.

Do you have other Addins? Maybe you could try disabling all other addons for a test?
How are you connected to your Mail Server / what kind of mailserver are you using?

The only other add-in that I use is Skype, but I`ve disabled that and re-uploaded the log. We are using Exchange 2010 SP3

I still don't have any clue what could be wrong here.

Would you be open to a TeamViewer session / phone call?

If so please send me a mail to aheinecke@intevation.de

Maybe I'll see something that is different for you or we could install OutlookSpy ( http://www.dimastr.com/outspy/home.htm ) to do some introspection.

I installed microsoft office 2016 on a brand new laptop and got the same problem described in the post listed above.
My solution was to uninstall the pre-configured app : "Microsoft Office Desktop Apps" and voila!!

It seems that this app was in a conflict with the Office installation made by myself.
