GpgOL could not decrypt/verify messages in "sent items" folder if smime support is disabled
Closed, WontfixPublic

Description

  • Install Gpg4win 2.0.1-rc1.
  • Send signed or encrypted openpgp message with Outlook 2003/2007 + GpgOL.

(Default: S/MIME support of GpgOL is disabled).

  • View sent message in folder "sent items"

-> GpgOL could not verify/decrypt message! (see attached screenshots)
Note:

  1. The Kleo decrypt dialog shows "decryption successfully" after clicking on

to _sent_ decrypted message (in sent items).

  1. Decrypt/verify of the (same) _received_ message (in inbox) is successfully.

Workaround:
_Enable_ S/MIME support in the GpgOL option dialog. Send new (openpgp) message.
-> Starting from now, GpgOL can verify/decrypt all new crypt mails in sent item
successfully.

It can't do that for technical reasons. We should enable S/MIME support by default.

ok, please enable s/mime support by default for next release.

Oh, I was not aware of that bug and disabled S/MIME by default in the current
development version.

I'll make the default depending on the Outlook version.

No. But as of 3.0 GpgOL for Outlook 2003 and 2007 is no longer maintained and the support for this will be removed in some future version. This bug only affects new installations of GpgOL on the unmaintained (by Microsoft) Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 Versions. So -> Wontfix.
