Note for myself: This is the behavior for key resolving in GpgOL. GpgEX has different code for this and the above examples will not work.
In GpgEX the group is not resolved into its component keys currently.

Finally officially tested with Gpg4win-4.2.0 and a Yubikey 5 NFC. Works for both OpenPGP and PIV.

I saw this recently on a imap subfolder with between 4- and 5000 mails. I have marked a few hundred new ones as read in one go. The folder does not even have mail threads in it and I've never used that function anyway.
This was on my work account @gnupg.com (the only account where I use KMail). Should we ask Werner for details of the server?

As it is so complicated to check all possibilities:

This is not as intended. When doing a search, we wanted No error message and only WKD search should be executed.

This was already present in 3.1.26, where the error message was missing the output from gpgtar. So there was an improvement

works with VS-Desktop-3.1.90.302-Beta, very nice!

When I do a search which is found on the keyserver, only the one without the multiple backslashes comes up, this seems to be started via gpgme call.
When starting again without a dirmngr and searching for a key which can only be found via WKD both entries appear in the taskmanager after only one search. The same is true if the key can be found in neither place. It seems the backslashes are associated with WKD and start is probably via gpgconf.
further improvement after the 3.2 release
I can confirm this
I can at least confirm that in VS-Desktop-3.1.90.300-Beta a file pkg-licenses.txt is included, as mentioned in the about dialog.
With VS-Desktop-3.1.90.300-Beta I do not any more see more than one dirmngr for the test user who is not in the windows test-domain.
But I still see 2 processes for the domain user. Which is less than before. Task manager for all users:
Aha, the certificates are listed in the certificate view, though. And when you remove the smart card and re-insert it the keys are then listed without having to press the "load certificates" button.
For the X509 brainpool test cards I used it does not work in VS-Desktop-3.1.90.300-Beta . After clicking "load certificates" the button remains greyed out:
VS-Desktop-3.1.90.300-Beta: The executable is now found.
Therefore now the details of the signing key are listed when clicking on "keys".

should this go into the upcomming VSD release?

No change in VS-Desktop-3.1.90.295-Beta
Works on windows, too. VS-Desktop-3.1.90.295-Beta
works, VS-Desktop-3.1.90.295-Beta

VS-Desktop-3.1.90.295-Beta: now there is no button any more... So still no learn key possible.

Existing file. I downloaded a pdf into the local Download folder of my Windows-VM and worked with that.
On VS-Desktop-3.1.90.287-Beta I get a suggestion of c:\Windows for saving the signed document, not the users directory any more.
So its gotten worse instead of better...

because I did not test with gpg4win yet. And I'm not familiar enough with the code base to say that it does not need to be testet with 2.4 again. Feel free to close it and move to done in the gpgcom workboard if you think its resolved for good.
ok, done for now.
is now hidden in VS-Desktop-3.1.90.287-Beta
I do not see any gpgsm processes appear in the task manager on windows when viewing a .eml file which was smime encrypted with the mimetreeparser.
I guess this is enough to move this to done for VSD

works, VS-Desktop-3.1.90.287-Beta
Seems T6813 blocks me from testing this. The generate window does not close and even if I abort the window, the generated key is not loaded. It is not selectable even if I remove the filter.
works, the .part file is deleted on Windows, too, VS-Desktop-3.1.90.287-Beta

The count in procmon for kleopatra.exe when starting Kleopatra returned 26434 in VSD 3.1.26 and only 14026 for Beta-277 in my test.

Another issue is that orca doesn't read the text of the certification key combo box. orca only reads the label of the combo box. Qt has a weird implementation for passing a value-changed event of a combo box to AT-SPI because "Combo Box with AT-SPI likes to be special. It requires a name-change to update caches and then selection-changed". Needs to be checked on Windows.
Thank you for the tool tips!
